How to install
About a minute. Windows and your browser show a warning because Apex Player is a new app.
Keep the file
Your browser may say the file "isn't commonly downloaded". That only means few people have downloaded it yet.
Microsoft Edge: point at the download, click … then Keep, then Keep anyway.
Chrome: click Keep.Open it
Click the downloaded ApexPlayer-Setup.exe in your browser's downloads or your Downloads folder.
Click "More info"
A blue box says "Windows protected your PC". This is Windows' standard message for any new program that isn't widely known yet; it isn't a virus warning. Click the small More info link.
Click "Run anyway"
It now shows the file name and "Unknown publisher". That just means Apex Player hasn't bought Microsoft's yearly signing certificate yet. Click Run anyway.
Install
Follow the setup. You can keep the suggested folder or pick another with Browse…. Apex Player adds a Start menu entry and an optional desktop icon.
Is it safe to install?
Yes. These warnings appear for every new program that isn't signed with Microsoft's paid certificate, whoever made it. They fade as more people install it. What Apex Player does and doesn't do:
